Summer Screen at Somerset House

A couple of weeks ago, DT and I packed up a picnic and headed to the beautiful Somerset House to see Prince Avalanche as part of the Film4 Summer Screen series.
It was one of the best experiences I have had in London.
Somerset House is the most unbelievable venue to watch a film in, nestled in its beautiful courtyard on a warm summer's evening, you almost forget that you are outside, let alone in the heart of London (well, except when a helicopter flies over...). As the light fades, and the film starts, a magic takes over and you are transported - it is the most amazing collision of film and place, something truly unique that I can't quite describe.
It was such a special experience, camped out on a picnic blanket, using shoes as drinks holders while watching a beautiful film. I don't think I will ever look at the cinema experience in the same way again.
